Isaac Slade, the lead singer of the Fray, spent the band’s first years consumed by the desire for recognition, worrying about whether the audience would applaud.
“It’s like the guy at the party who tries to make everybody laugh,” said Slade, who will be performing at the Silver Legacy on Saturday with guitarist Joe King, guitarist Dave Welsh and drummer Ben Wysocki. “Nobody laughs. It was a packed show Thursday night at the House of Blues for the kickoff of The Fray’s U.S. “Scars and Stories” tour. The crowd exuded such an electric feeling that even front man Isaac Slade wanted a closer encounter.
About smaller venues, Slade once said: “It feels good to be that close to the crowd.” At Thursday’s performance, Slade took being close to another level. That level was actually a step down from the stage, where Slade made his way down to the main floor, smack in the middle of the audience during the group’s performance of “Happiness,” which is off of its 2009 self-titled album (…)

It was the hottest ticket in town Saturday night. Fans have waited almost a full year for this evening - the U2 concert at Invesco Field at Mile High. Saturday is even more special for a local band gone big. The Fray opened for U2.
The Fray are four friends from Denver who broke big in 2005 with their debut album, ” How to Save a Life,” which went double platinum. They have been making hits every since while still calling Denver home (….)
